Armed Violence, Small Arms Reduction and Human Security

The project is a DFID/UNDP supported project that seeks to develop the capacity of the National security machinery to better control the local manufacture, trafficking and proliferation of small arms and light weapons. The project has four key activities; awareness raising and public education campaigns with the long-term objective of promoting arms-free society, institutional capacity strengthening to enable the National Security Apparatus better control armed violence, community development and sustainable livelihood aimed at re-channeling the expertise of local blacksmiths into other productive ventures and boarder control and management aimed at controlling the trafficking and proliferation or weapons.
