The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), financially support - through grants given under the ACT Project - local human rights activities carried out by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other human rights actors among civil society. The sixth phase of the ACT Project is planned for the period July 2008 to December 2009. Ghana has been selected for participation in the 6th phase (2008-2009) of the ACT Project. ACT Project supports activities which meet the following requirements: - local activities focusing on human rights education or the promotion of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the primary and secondary school system
- the duration of the activity does not exceed six months and the activity ends by December 2009
- the budget does not exceed 5,000 USD
- the applicant is a credible NGO or an association with institutional capacity to implement the activity (note that the selected CSOs/NGOs will be required to submit their organisation statutes)
A standard application form that should be used and information note that provides additional information on the project can be picked from the Security Post (Reception) of the UNDP Office, near the Ghana Fire Service Headquarters, or at the UNDP website: http://www.undp.org. Completed proposal should be left at the Security Post (Reception) of the UNDP Marked: ACT Project and addressed to: The ACT Project Focal Person UNDP P. O. Box 1423 Accra.
